This category recognizes groundbreaking applications, processes, or technologies that have significantly enhanced the underground construction industry's ability to deliver safer, more efficient, and sustainable underground solutions. Award-winning innovations will demonstrate a transformative impact on tunnelling and underground space development, pushing the boundaries of engineering excellence.

Eligible projects in this category must feature innovations that have been successfully implemented in tunnelling or underground space projects between March 1, 2022, and April 1, 2025.

Evaluation Criteria:

Entries will be assessed based on their ability to advance the state of the art in underground construction through improvements in design, application, and processes. The judging panel will consider:

• Enhanced Safety: Innovations that improve project safety or introduce safer applications of existing processes.
• Pioneering Solutions: The introduction of novel technologies, methodologies, or tools that redefine industry standards.
• Design & Construction Advancements: New developments in design processes, construction methods, or equipment that enable previously unattainable functions.
• Sustainability Impact: Solutions that reduce material and energy consumption while enhancing environmental sustainability.
• Demonstrated Effectiveness: Innovations validated through successful application in laboratory settings, pilot projects, or full-scale implementation in the field.

Submission Requirements:

Nominees will be required to provide a detailed description of the innovation's outcome, demonstrating its tangible benefits and contributions to the industry.
