ITA call nominations for the 2021 Awards

Applications are invited to participate in the seventh edition of the international ITA Tunnelling Awards competition that seeks to rewards the most ground breaking innovations and outstanding projects in the tunnelling and underground space utilization industry.

Israel wins international tunneling award for archaeology

Israel's project is very archaeologically focused, especially given the rich history that lies beneath the surface of much of the country, especially in cities thousands of years old.

The Israel's underground project won international recognition at the International Tunneling and Underground Space Association (ITA) Awards, specifically taking hope top prize in the Oddities of the Underground category, due to its creativity and innovation in archaeology.

San Francisco Tunnel Projects Earn International Honors

It also was an occasion for ITA to review the past year and announce some forecasts: "Although it has been a very challenging year, ITA Tunneling Awards has received 52 entries from 23 countries. [We are] very enthusiastic when [we] see all the innovations, projects, engineers and company working together to make our industry more resilient and take on new challenges," the ITA website stated.

The eight categories awarded were: Project of the Year (more than $600M); Project of the Year ($60M to $600M); Project of the Year Including Renovation; Technical Innovation of the Year; Overcoming a Challenge; Oddities of the Underground; Innovative and Contributing Underground Spaces; and Young Tunneller of the Year.

Finalists announced for ITA Awards 2020

The finalists for the ITA Awards 2020 have been selected by the 16 member panel of industry recognised judges. The award ceremony will be held as virtual conference on December 3 and 4, with the winners being announced on December 4. The presentations of the finalists and the virtual exhibition will remain available during the two weeks.

Los Angeles Regional Connector Transit Project Garners Tunnelling Project of the Year Award

Project is recognized by the ITA Tunnelling Awards in the 50 million to 500 million Euro category. Since 2015, the ITA Tunnelling Awards international competition seeks and rewards the most ground-breaking innovation and outstanding projects in tunneling and underground space use. This year, the Los Angeles Regional Connector Transit Project was recognized as Project of the Year in the 50 million to 500 million Euro category at the event held in Miami.

Achievements celebrated in 2019 ITA Awards

Projects of complex design and construction, and developments of outstanding achievement in the fields of industry safety and innovation, are selected as the best of the best and recipients of the Brunel Trophy of the 2019 ITA Awards. At the end of the day-long conference, during which the Award finalists in each of eight categories provided details of their projects, the winners were announced at the gala dinner in Miami, USA, and the Brunel Trophies presented. “For 2019, we received 71 entries and 34 of them are entries for the three construction project categories, indicating the number of outstanding projects being built worldwide," said Jenny Yan, President of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA)
